Today Dealsea put up directions on how to get a free 3-month Amazon.com Prime membership here. Amazon.com Prime is great because you get free 2-day shipping with no minimum purchase! I really don’t like paying for shipping, so I’m definitely signing up.
There's a new code out for a free Redbox movie rental: ACME25, good at any Redbox

It’s the last week of CVS shopping for 2009! I bought:
- 1 Bayer Contour blood glucose monitor, $14.99 with one $14.99 newspaper coupon and $5 ECBs = profit of $5
- 1 Colgate Total toothpaste, $2.99 with one $1 All You magazine coupon and $2 ECBs = free
- 1 Gillette Fusion Gamer razor, $8.99 with one $4 newspaper coupon and $4 ECBs = $1
- 2 newspapers (Dallas Morning News double pack, $5)
Net cost: $1.01. I only paid $0.03 out of pocket again. I can’t believe how long I’ve been able to go without shelling some cash to keep going. I love it! Receipts at CVS print out year-to-date savings calculated from the week before, so I won’t have the correct savings until next week, but here are the numbers so far. It’s been a fun year, and I’ve learned a lot about shopping for deals at CVS. I’ve got some goals for next year that I’ll share with you when I have the totals!

Merry Christmas, everyone!
I’ve had a bit of a sewing block recently. I think all sewers and crafters know what I’m talking about; it just seems like so much effort to sit down in front of my machine. Because of this, I’m way behind on sewing gifts, and there is no way they are all going to get done before Friday. Thank goodness for friends and family that will be just as happy to wait until January!
I did manage to sew up a little apron for my mother-in-law. I used the Apron in an Hour tutorial using some of Sandi Henderson’s Ginger Blossoms and Patty Young’s Mezzanine, and it really did only take an hour! This came together so quickly; the only thing I added was some extra top-stitching along the waistband. I had forgotten how much faster sewing goes when it is only straight lines! I think I’ll add this to my repertoire of quick patterns for last-minute gifts.
I also found out how much fun making sequin and bead ornaments is. This type of project is great when you have a sewing block because it doesn’t take much concentration and you can work while watching a movie. I modeled this ornament off of this sequined tree tutorial, and I think it came out super cute. I have two more to make, and these will go to three of my favorite sewers who are probably reading this right now. (Pretend to be surprised!) I’ll probably make a few for myself as well….
By the way, the fabulous fabric designer Paula Prass is having a fun giveaway on her blog Show + Tell called “When Santa Visits Go Wrong.” I don’t have any pictures of me visiting Santa or any kids yet, but I submitted a picture of my little puppy Amy on her first (and last) visit with Santa. Go check it out; the pictures are quite amusing. Who knew that visiting Santa could be so traumatizing?

Ok everyone, I have a deal that anyone can do. It doesn’t require you to have a membership anywhere or any newspaper coupons, and you can pay in change. All you need is a printer and a Walgreens. Ready?
Kleenex (78 or 110 ct) – regularly $1.39 at Walgreens. First give the cashier the in-ad coupon on the back page that changes each box to $0.79 (up to 3). Then give them your internet manufacturer’s coupons** for $0.75 off (you should be able to print two). Each box is now only 4 cents!
I’ve never gotten Kleenex this cheap before, so take advantage of the deal while you can! I’m going back for more this afternoon. :)
**Note: While this coupon does say “Redeemable at Kmart,” it is a manufacturer’s coupon (stated at the top), not a Kmart coupon, and thus is valid anywhere that accepts manufacturer’s coupons. Don’t let a cashier tell you otherwise! It doesn’t say “Redeemable only at Kmart” of “Kmart coupon.” I haven’t had a problem with this, but some people have, and going to a different location usually fixes the problem.
I slept in a little late to get everything today. The Alteril and Thermacare wraps were completely gone! I would have donated them, but I also would have made $6 off those items, so I wish I could have gotten them. Today I bought:
- 1 Listerine, $3.99 with one $1 newspaper coupon and $3 ECBs = free
- 1 Nivea body wash, $5.99 with one $2 internet coupon and $5 ECBs = profit of $1
- 1 Lysol toilet cleaner, $2.99 with one $0.50 internet coupon, one $1 CVS CRT coupon, and $1 ECBs = $0.50
- 2 Glade scented oil candle holders, $3 each, and 2 Glade scented oil candle refills, $3 each, with two “buy holder get refills free” coupons and $4 ECBs for buying $12 in Glade products = $2
- 3 Revlon lipsticks, $6.99 each with three $2 newspaper coupons and $5 ECBs each = free
- 1 Crest Pro-Health toothpaste, $2.88 with one $0.75 newspaper coupon and $2 ECBs = $0.13
- $1 ECB from green bag tag reward
Net cost: $0.63. My OOP was under one dollar again. I love paying so little in cash! There were no coupons in the paper today, so I didn't buy any newspapers this week. Now I just need to gather a few boxes worth of stuff to take to the local food pantry before the end of the year. One more week and we’ll see how my first full year CVS-ing ended up!
