CVS, Week of 7-25

CVS sent me a $5 off a $40 purchase email coupon this week; I sure didn’t use it! I didn’t see enough things that I wanted to justify spending that much money. I bought:

  • 1 U by Kotex product, $4.99 with one $1 mailer coupon and $4.99 ECBs = profit of $1
  • 2 newspapers

Net cost: $3. It was nice to have a slow week and not worry about anything being out of stock.

CVS, Week of 7-18

Ooh, I am excited about my new nail polish. And chocolate for $0.10? Yes, please. I bought:

  • 2 Pantene products, 2 for $6.97 with two $2 newspaper (Parade) coupons and $2 ECBS = $0.97
  • 1 Celsius Green Tea drink 4-pack, $7.99 with one $2 internet coupon and $7.99 ECBs = profit of $2
  • 1 Schick Quattro 4-pack blades, $8.99 with one $4 All You Magazine coupon and $4 ECBs = $1
  • 2 Pretzel M&Ms, $1 with $1 ECB = free
  • 1 Dove bar, $0.89 with one $0.79 CVS CRT coupon = $0.10
  • 2 Revlon nail polishes, $3.99 each, and one Revlon nail clipper, $3.19, with $5 CVS CRT coupon and $4 ECBS for buying $10 in Revlon products = $2.17
  • 1 CVS hand sanitizing spray pen, $1.99 with one $1.99 CVS internet free item coupon = free
  • 2 newspapers
  • One $5 off a $30 CVS email coupon
  • One $1 ECB for my fourth CVS bag tag scan

Net cost: $0.87. Woohoo! It would have been even better if this week’s coupons had the Revlon coupons that other areas had, but mine didn’t. I can’t complain though; I even found all of this at 1 in the afternoon, which was very surprising!

Note: I recently earned a $25 gift card through MyPoints, and I have nearly spent it all, so I’m going to subtract that from my out of pocket spending and add it to my savings today.

Lunch Bag, Silverware Pouch

I finally got some sewing done for myself! Some of my Christmas present from hubby (picked especially for these projects) got turned into a lunch bag (tutorial here) and utensil wrap (tutorial here). Both were extremely easy to make, especially the utensil wrap. Don’t you just love those dots? They make me very happy.

And best of all, the utensil wrap turns into a placemat! Sweet!

And then, of course, it folds up nice and neat to go into your lunch bag. This is a great way to take utensils with you to and from lunch without getting anything messy.

Tie and Headband

Chick-fil-A’s Cow Appreciation Day was last Friday, so I sewed up a headband (tutorial here) for myself and a tie (tutorial here) for hubby. I think they turned out great! I added 1.75” to the length of the headband and it fit perfectly. Next time I’ll make it a little less wide since I have a small head, but I really like how it turned out. I will definitely be making more of these out of my pretty scrap bins!

We forgot to bring the camera to Chick-fil-A with us, but I did get a little puppy to model it for you all. Now I’m thinking he needs one of his own. :) The tie tutorial was very easy to follow, though I didn’t think ahead of time how much hand-sewing was involved. It also took a lot more fabric than I expected! It turned out really well (though it was really stiff from all of the interfacing), and I’ll use it again with less interfacing.

CVS, Week of 7-4(2)

My first purchase was actually last week to get a few things I didn’t find the first time. I bought:

  • 2 CVS pantiliners, $0.50 each with $1 ECB wyb 2 = free
  • 1 Milky Way caramel, $0.50 with one $0.50 CVS CRT coupon = free
  • 1 Duracell 4-pack, $2.99 with one $0.75 newspaper coupon and $1 ECB = $1.25

Net cost: $1.26. I like stocking up on batteries so that I don’t have to buy any last-minute at full price.

CVS, Week of 7-11

Next up was Sunday’s trip. I bought:

  • 2 CVS pantiliners, $0.50 each with $1 ECB wyb 2 = free
  • 2 John Frieda products, $5 each with two $2.50 internet coupons and $5 ECBs for spending $10 = free
  • 2 newspapers

Net cost: $4.10.

CVS, Week of 7-11(2)

And lastly, today’s trip. I found some things that were out of stock already at my store on Sunday. Alas, I still did not find the money-making contact solution. I bought:

  • 2 CVS pantiliners, $0.50 each with $1 ECB wyb 2 = free
  • 2 John Frieda products, $5 each with two $2 newspaper coupons and $5 ECBs for spending $10 = $1
  • 1 kid’s scissors, $0.99 with $0.99 ECBs = free
  • 1 Papermate pen pack, $0.99 with $0.99 ECBs = free

Net cost: $1.24. Not bad at all! I’ll have to be sure to make a trip to the food pantry before school starts to donate the school supplies. It’s so nice to be able to help out!

Edit: This deal has expired.

Go here to buy a 4'x4' raised garden bed kit from Home Depot for only $9, shipped to your home for free. This item is on backorder and says it will ship when they are available again. Sometimes prices like this are typos, or the item does run out and you don't get your order; you won't get charged until it ships, so you don't have to worry about getting charged for something you don't get. One note: the wood in this kit is pressure-treated, and there are studies that show the chemicals used to treat the wood can leech into nearby dirt. You should decide for yourself if this is safe for your family if you plan to grow vegetables in it. I'm planning to line mine with plastic to be extra safe. Thanks, Dealsea!
